Kawther Hashmi

Faith Links Adviser

Kawther Hashmi has worked with BAME communities since leaving University after completing a BA Hons in Accounting and Finance. She worked for a charity in Lancashire delivering a project aimed at women and girls from BAME communities. In 2011 she started work as Faith Links Adviser with the Diocese of Guildford, being a conduit between faith communities, the voluntary and public sector – a role which she now carries out with Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum. Kawther is also a Multi Faith Coordinator for Surrey and Borders Partnership where she provides pastoral care to people with mental health illnesses.

She has recently completed a fitness instructing course with the aim of motivating and encouraging women and young girls from BAME communities to get more active. Kawther is passionate about building bridges between people of all faiths and no faith and has been involved with interfaith work for over 13 years. She is also a founding member and trustee of the Surrey Muslim Association, which is a forum of Mosques in Surrey.
